Case Study: Amber Foundation/HSBC Embrace communications skills workshop
The Brief
To help prepare a group of young Hong Kong-born ethnic minority women students for potential job interview situations.
The Challenge
The participants were approaching the end of their university courses and undertaking several workshops to learn new skills designed to increase their confidence as they took their first steps in their career path. Although most of the women had a work history, many had little career interview experience.
The Solution
To share some of our most effective communication tools with the group and give them opportunities to practice those newly-acquired skills in interviews with experienced role players from a major global bank.
The Outcome
We designed a two-and-a-half hour session per group of 16 participants that covered elements of interview and communication skills. We used breakout rooms to practice some of the tools, but spent the majority of the workshop in 15-minute interviews with experienced role players and managers from the bank. Each participant was given two opportunities to interview in order to fully put into practice the skills they had learned.
